Heavy-duty 698 series forged rivetless chain: 153.2 mm pitch, 620 kN average tensile strength, 17 kg/m.
SHINING 698HT is a drop-forged, heat-treated rivetless chain built for the heavy end of bulk conveying. The 698 series link runs at a 153.2 mm pitch with an average tensile strength of 620 kN and a mass of 17 kg/m, so it is specified where a welded chain would be over-stressed or would not survive the abrasion.
The same link pattern is available at 229.4 mm pitch as the 998, and in the S-prefix build (S698) for users who keep the shorter pitch with the same strength class. Because the family shares one joint design, trolleys, flights and attachments can be carried across.
Bulk Material Handling: the general duty for this size of chain - high-load, abrasive, continuous conveying.
Sugar Refining and Mills: cane and bagasse handling where the chain runs wet and abrasive.
Mining and Mineral Processing: heavy ore, clinker and aggregate conveying.
Overhead and Trolley Conveying: where matched trolleys and pusher dogs are used with the chain.
The links are drop-forged and heat-treated, which is what gives the pin and the sidebar working surfaces the toughness that abrasive bulk materials demand.
The joint needs no tools for assembly, so a section can be replaced on site without special equipment - which matters when a line is down.
The open design between pin and centre link prevents conveyed material from packing the joints, a common cause of chain stiffening and pitch growth.
When the chain wears, the pin can be reversed to recover the original pitch, and the complete chain can be turned over to present a new sliding surface.
Flights are manufactured and attached to customer specifications. Stainless pins and accessories are available in hardened stainless steel for wet or corrosive duties, and other link and pin designs can be made to order.
