Overview

X348, X458 and X678 are the classic American-pattern forged rivetless chains, and SHINING drop-forges and heat-treats all three. The family covers a 76.6 mm, 102.4 mm and 153.2 mm pitch with average tensile strengths of 130 kN, 245 kN and 380 kN, so one link pattern serves loads from a light overhead conveyor to a heavy material-handling line.

Because the three sizes share one joint design, a line originally built around X348 can be stepped up to X458 or X678 without changing the way the chain is assembled or maintained. S-prefix builds (S348, S458, S678) are available in the same strength classes, and the larger 698, 998 and 9118 sizes extend the family where more strength is needed.

Features

Drop Forged and Heat Treated

The links are drop-forged and heat-treated, which is what gives the pin and the sidebar working surfaces the toughness that abrasive bulk materials demand.

Rivetless Joint, No Tools

The joint needs no tools for assembly, so a section can be replaced on site without special equipment - which matters when a line is down.

Open Joint That Will Not Pack

The open design between pin and centre link prevents conveyed material from packing the joints, a common cause of chain stiffening and pitch growth.

Reversible Pin, Reversible Chain

When the chain wears, the pin can be reversed to recover the original pitch, and the complete chain can be turned over to present a new sliding surface.

Flights and Pins to Your Specification

Flights are manufactured and attached to customer specifications. Stainless pins and accessories are available in hardened stainless steel for wet or corrosive duties, and other link and pin designs can be made to order.

Matched Trolleys and Pusher Dogs

Trolleys and pusher dogs are available to match the chain, so an overhead or tow conveyor can be supplied as a complete system rather than as chain alone.
