Changzhou, China — August 26, 2026 — SHINING INDUSTRIAL HOLDING CO., LTD, a global leader in conveyor chain and bulk material handling solutions with over 20 years of industry expertise, today announced the successful delivery of its first Heavy-duty Apron Feeder, the WBZ1524×5615mm model, to a major cement production facility in Indonesia. The unit is engineered to replace the plant’s existing Svedala NICO FD4486 Apron Feeder, delivering significant performance improvements, a simplified mechanical architecture, and a lower total cost of ownership.
The delivered WBZ1524×5615mm Apron Feeder represents a comprehensive engineering redesign of the legacy Svedala equipment. The original FD4486, manufactured by the Universal Engineering Division of Svedala Industries, Inc., has served the plant for years but presented increasing operational challenges, including limited drive power, complex lubrication requirements, and difficulties in sourcing OEM spare parts following the corporate integration of Svedala into Metso and Sandvik.
SHINING’s R&D team addressed these limitations through a targeted technical upgrade. The new feeder is equipped with a 30 kW YVF200-4 variable frequency motor, representing a 62 percent increase in power over the original 18.5 kW drive. The drive architecture has been fundamentally streamlined by replacing the traditional shaft-mounted reducer and external couplings with a P2KA14 planetary gear reducer connected directly to the drive shaft via a locking disc. This direct-drive configuration reduces the number of rotating components and potential failure points while ensuring stable operation under severe impact loads from bin discharge.
A key innovation in the redesign is the implementation of double-row self-lubricating rolling bearing assemblies for both support and return rollers. Unlike the legacy system, which required regular manual greasing through a dedicated lubrication skid, the new rollers operate without any routine oil or grease replenishment. This maintenance-free design significantly reduces scheduled downtime, eliminates the risk of over- or under-lubrication, and enhances workplace safety.
Wear resistance has been substantially enhanced through the use of precision-cast Mn13Cr high-manganese steel slats with a 20 mm base thickness and reinforced ribs. Compared to standard welded steel alternatives, Mn13Cr delivers three to five times longer service life under high-impact and abrasive conditions. The traction system utilizes a T171 tank track chain with an ultimate tensile strength of 855 kN, featuring 35MnB chain plates and 40Cr pins and bushings with high-frequency quenching to HRC 52–56 for extreme abrasion resistance.
The WBZ1524×5615mm is designed for continuous handling of limestone and other abrasive bulk materials with particle sizes up to 400 mm, at capacities ranging from 300 to 500 t/h. All primary transmission components are lubricated with high-performance molybdenum disulfide grease, forming a stable, high-load-bearing film under extreme pressure and high-temperature conditions.
The equipment was shipped from SHINING’s manufacturing facility in July 2026 and is currently in transit to the Indonesian cement plant. On-site installation is scheduled for the end of August 2026, with operational validation and performance testing set for September 2026. Upon successful commissioning, SHINING will publish verified operational data, further demonstrating the feeder’s capabilities in a real-world cement plant environment.
This delivery marks a significant milestone for SHINING, showcasing the company’s ability to deliver custom-engineered, high-performance alternatives to legacy bulk material handling equipment. With a legacy spanning more than two decades and a presence in over 40 countries, SHINING continues to support global industries with innovative solutions that enhance productivity and reduce operational costs.
